Vishaan Chakrabarti Proposes Penn Station Redesign
Posted on October 04 2016
As you may have heard, Governor Cuomo has OK'd plans to rebuild Penn Station, and while many New Yorkers are thrilled with the news, there are those unhappy with the proposed redesign. One such critic is Vishaan Chakrabarti, former principal of SHoP Architects and founder of the Practice for Architecture and Urbanism. Chakrabarti doesn't agree with the proposed demolition of Madison Square Garden. Instead, his idea involves "using its stripped skeleton to make a glass pavilion, which becomes a neighborhood gathering spot, not just a station." Check out some pretty cool renderings below and click here more for a much more detailed look at his alternative plan, courtesy of the New York Times.
