2016 World Press Photo Contest Winners Announced
Posted on February 23 2016
Winners were selected from 82,951 photos by 5,775 photographers from 128 different countries. That's a lot to go through. Lucky for us, the folks over at World Press were down for the challenge. The result: a collection of stunning photos that encapsulateĀ a variety of themes including contemporary issues, daily life, general news, long-term projects, nature, people, sports, and spot-news. The image above by Warren Richardson depicts a harrowing moment on the Hungarian-Serbian border as a man passes a baby through barbed wire in August of last year. It was named image of the year.
